The Artful Duke, Bromley, is set to host its regular quiz night on 9th February in aid of the Garwood Foundation as we drive to raise the last £100,000 of a £2.5 million target.
The quiz is the latest event in a series of fundraising initiatives focussed on reaching the last £100,000 of a £2.5 million target to fund building works at Rutherford School, part of the Garwood Foundation.
As demand for the specialist school has risen, the need to ensure facilities are fit for purpose and continue to provide the level of education, nursing, therapies and inclusion they are known for, has become essential.
The total will fund a new hydrotherapy pool, an extra classroom, and accessible community meeting space. With only £100,000 left to raise, it’s not just students at Rutherford who will benefit:
“We’ve always prided ourselves on excellence of education, care and inclusion. Rutherford School occupies a highly specialised but vital niche in the education market and with these developments we’ll be able to expand our provision.
We already support local groups with the hire of our facilities in evenings and weekends and with the upgraded space becoming a reality we can offer this to more people in the local community. We’ve already been approached by physiotherapists offering post operative, injury, and illness rehabilitation. Suitable facilities are few and far between.” Ross White, CEO of Garwood, explained in more detail. “The accessible meeting space will also bring tighter links with the community as many companies are under pressure to find meeting venues with better access too”.
The works will take around 14 months to complete. With only £100,000 to go of the total £2.5m target the Space to Thrive appeal has been launched to raise these final, vital funds.
Maria Evans, General Manager of the Artful Duke was approached to see if she could support the appeal and immediately said yes. “Our late son Charlie attended Rutherford School, so I know first-hand how vital it is to families like ours. When I was asked if I could help, I was keen to get on board. As we host the quiz every week, we thought choosing a week for Garwood would be good way to fundraise and raise awareness of the Space to Thrive appeal at the same time.”
We are looking forward to seeing what other events or fundraising activities supporters are able to offer. “We’re really in a team effort to raise the final funds before the build is complete and welcome all approaches and ideas!” Aimee Twomey, Communications and Events Officer enthused.
With a calendar full of challenge events and five marathon runners already in training, Garwood are also looking for enthusiastic individuals to complete a variety of sponsored events for all fitness levels.
Can you help fundraise these final funds before the build is complete?
