Learning

About our School

Rutherford School, part of Garwood, is a specialist independent mixed day provision for students aged between 16-25 years with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).

Our highly unique curriculum is designed to provide education in an integrated manner incorporating learning, therapy and health needs for our pupils and students.

Our aim is to provide inclusive education to learners whose very special needs are compounded by a high level of dependency and who require very specialised management for physical disabilities, sensory impairment and complex medical needs. Our holistic approach facilitates learning that is supported and managed by a specialist range of therapies.

We are Garwood

Where every ability shines

Rutherford School is part of Garwood – a Croydon-based disability charity supporting young people and adults across Croydon and the surrounding boroughs. We do this through our residential care home, Jean Garwood House and our day centre at Bramley Hill. Our busy charity shops in South Croydon and Addiscombe are run to help support the work across our 3 sites.
