Local Man Takes on Lands End to John O’Groats Challenge for Rutherford School

A determined fundraiser is preparing to take on one of the UK’s most iconic endurance challenges in support of Rutherford School.

Simon Stockman is set to walk the full distance from Land’s End to John o’ Groats in a remarkable effort to raise money for the school and support its students.

The epic journey, which stretches the length of Great Britain, will see Simon cover hundreds of miles through towns, villages and countryside across England and Scotland. The challenge is expected to take weeks of dedication, resilience and determination.

Simon said he wanted to take on the walk to give back to Rutherford School and help provide opportunities and resources for pupils.

“Rutherford School does incredible work for its students and community,” he said. “I wanted to do something meaningful that would not only challenge me personally but also raise awareness and support for the school.”

Staff, pupils and supporters of Rutherford School have already begun rallying behind the fundraiser, with many expected to follow Simon’s progress throughout the journey and contribute to the fundraising campaign.

Suzanna Band, Rutherford School Headteacher, praised Simon’s commitment and thanked him for choosing to support Rutherford School through such an ambitious challenge.

“Walking from Land’s End to John O’Groats is an extraordinary achievement in itself,” they said. “We are incredibly grateful to Simon for his dedication, generosity and determination to support our school community.”

Funds raised during the challenge will go towards supporting activities, resources and opportunities for students at Rutherford School.

Supporters are being encouraged to donate, share Simon’s story and cheer him on as he makes his way from the south-west tip of England to the northernmost reaches of Scotland.
